Pajama Party

I worked with an MSD pattern from Undead Threads for a simple shirt. I only had to reduce it a little, but the results were perfect. This pattern fit both my Chicline slim MSD body and the Minifee body. Both are small breasted.

Undead Threads even had a pattern for a simple lounge pant, also referred to as Cheap Pants. My male Chicline was very thankful.

January is for Pajamas

Since my new gals needed some sleepwear, I decided January would be dedicated to pajamas and accessories. I sifted through several of my binders of patterns and found one from House of Resin/Undead Threads (http://twilightarms.com/dolls/). I took two Undead Thread patterns for a simple short-sleeved top and pants. My pattern is pretty outdated and had MSD hand-written across the top. It was a start. The result was a cute little top and bottoms made from flannel. Josie (Minifee Luka) looks really cute in it. The top actually fits my Chicline Ino better.

I made a couple of enlargements of the shirt pattern to see if I could get a better fit for Josie. Here is the result. Enlarging it by 20% creates a cute overblouse. I can see making this in a jean material to put over tees.

I took the pattern that was only enlarged 15% and went to work. This time, I created a sleep shirt. It didn't turn out bad, but I do have some tweeking that needs to be made in the front. The full length photo makes the pajama look more awkward than it really does. I'll have to retake the photo, but you get the idea.

I took a peek at the Undead Threads site and see that they have an even better shirt pattern. Back to the drawing board...er sewing machine.

Mornings Here

me: "Morning Josie. Rise and shine."
Josie only offers a sigh.

Josie: "What time is it? I thought Bobbie was kidding when she said there's no sleepin' in here."
Josie searches for her glasses.

me: "Whoa...those are some serious curls."
Josie: " Yea...welcome to my world."

Josie: "There.  This'll have to do for now. How 'bout we break the fast?"
me:  (chuckle) "oh..kay...how hungry are you?"
Josie: "You have no idea."

Cut Once, Measure Twice

Well, where should I begin? I guess at the beginning. I found some tips from Dale Rae website on how to best fit clothing to your doll. Dale gives some wonderful tips on some basic and important measurements to have on hand.

Now, to find my beautiful test subjects.

me: "Oh, Josie? Where are you?"
Josie: "Doesn't anybody ever get the day off around here? Geesh"

Another Year...Another Resolution

I can't believe another year has come and gone. Looking back I didn't get to accomplish as much as I planned. However, I did learn several new techniques in creating wigs, shoes, clothing for my dolls. I even gave a couple of my dolls new faceups.

This year, I would like to concentrate on sewing creations for my doll collection from my stash of doll patterns. I literally have 5 binders and several magazine holders full of ideas for clothing. The sizes range from 4" dolls to 22" dolls. I have patterns for period clothing, baby clothing and modern clothing. I've made maybe a dozen outfits over the past 3 years or so. 12 different styles of outfits?! Come on.

Quite honestly, I get frustrated. Sometimes I just get bored. I'm hoping that by going through at least one of my doll mags, I'll be able to settle one 1 or 2 different sized dolls. I think this will improve the enjoyment I get from my doll collection. So, check back monthly and see what I'm sewing. Maybe you'll be inspired as well.
